Back from Serenity Squared, good time had by all. Nice to meet up with everyone again, even got to spend some quality time with HelsinkiFiancé (who I'm not going to see for another four weeks, Woe!) Details to follow, but Christina Hendricks is as adorable as I expected, and Sean Maher I'm totally in love with. Got ten hours sleep last night, which beats my total for the entire weekend. And the Serenity gag reel? Is frickin' hilarious. Good times, but I'm still a little relieved that the convention year is over for me... it's taken a while, but I'm finally all conventioned out!
Got back to school yesterday morning, and first person I saw was HelsinkiPrincipal. Who welcomed me back, and told me that, at the staff meeting on Friday (the one he let me miss because he let me take a course day so I could go to the con?) we decided that we would spend this Friday, our in-school planning day for history, specifically on local history. Which is fine with me because there's only so much of the Normans that one can take, you know? And he mentions that he was told I know a lot about the Sack of Balbriggan. It just so happens that my lesson on that subject is kickass and the kids love it, so I nodded. I blame lack of sleep for not seeing where this was going. Yep, you've guessed it. "Would you like to give a talk on it on Friday to the staff?" Now, my own personal answer? Is "I'd rather spork my eyes out." But this is HelsinkiPrincipal who is very good with the letting me go early and come in late with regard to the convention going, so what could I do but say yes?
Ergo, the last two days have been spent reading about burning buildings, terrified families and bayonetted men, and it's all terribly uplifting! Though frustrating when I google Black and Tans and come up with five million pictures of puppies!
Off to the scanner go I!
