For [livejournal.com profile] dreatine - 3 random facts about Ainsley, and 3 extra.

1. She very nearly didn't go to the White House that first time. It took Bruce and Harriet and two bottles of wine to convince her that she should hear what Leo McGarry had to say, if only so that they could laugh about it (and she could write about it) afterwards. It was the first time she'd even been there - well, third really, she'd done the tour twice - and even though she was nervous, it took her breath away.

2. It took five minutes for her nerves to go away, about as long as it took for her to get a good head of steam up talking, admonishing Leo McGarry for summoning her to the White House. He stopped her dead with the offer of a job, and even though she argued with him over it, when she was at home alone that night, she couldn't stop thinking about him.

3. She very nearly didn't tell him that she wrote one of the op-ed pieces. She had decided, in fact, not to mention it, but the words just slipped out. She told herself that it was better to start off on a honest footing, not to be hiding anything from the man who was her boss's boss's boss. As time went on though, she began to wonder if that really was the reason.

4. By the time she'd spent a couple of months working there, she'd memorised every suit, shirt and tie combination he had, knew his habits almost as well as Margaret, and could judge his moods by the look in his eyes. She told herself she shouldn't be thinking like that about her boss's boss's boss, but she couldn't help herself.

5. Leo McGarry was wrong for her, on many levels. He was a Democrat, old enough to be her father, he was her boss, an alcoholic, and a relationship could have ruined both their careers. But she doesn't regret a moment of it.

6. She meant to vote for Vinick. She voted Santos/McGarry instead.
