Post my post last night, I have had the most chilling 24 hours ever... as promised, went on a TNG binge, looking last night at Yesterday's Enterprise (my most favourite Trek episode ever ever ever in the history of ever), followed by The Best of Both Worlds two parter... all I'm going to say is to wonder how the North Americans ever lived through that summer... my memory is of seeing both parts one after the other, and with the wallop that ending packs all these years later, I don't know how you did it! The other thing is that, as a reader of the New Frontier books....Shelby, Peter David didn't half soften your character!!!
Slept this morning until half eleven, and when I got up, looked at Legacy, Identity Crisis, and The Mind's Eye (boning up on my Geordi canon for SFBall!). Followed that with an episode of JAG (Skeleton Crew, because I got the DVDs last week, and started with the end instead of the beginning. Still so bitter that that was never resolved adequately!)
That said, JAG fans... what was the episode where they cut it up and redid it in later seasons? I want to try to find it streaming online if I can!
Then did an ep of Criminal Minds, the one with Elizabeth Harnois (minus the cowboy hat I didn't recognise her) as twins.
Then a couple of SCD It Takes Twos from earlier in the week (Willie Thorne, you made me cry!) then Himself got up, so I taped the SCD show for tonight, which I'm about to go look at, spent some time with him and then had dinner.
After SCD, if I have time, thanks to a text conversation with
misssimm I may look at Rent. That is, if the downloads of the skating from Skate America don't distract me. (So far, the only one I've looked at is Daisuke Takahashi. And might I say? Damn! (in a good way!)
And just for
smiley_b who's gotten me into the show... the ship was all me!

“You ever think that could be you like that?”
I look for a moment at Derek, long enough to ascertain that he’s being perfectly serious. Then I look back to the TV, to the site of some blonde actress Princess Diana wannabe, wearing a white dress as wide as Texas, grinning beside some equally vapid but pretty Brad Pitt wannabe and I can’t help myself.
I burst out laughing.
“Oh honey,” I tell him when I can speak again. “How long have you known me again? Seriously.”
Except that I know Derek, and even in the middle of my laughter, I can tell that he is actually being serious. Tilting his head, those big brown eyes fix me with a question. “Come on, you’ve never thought about it? Never pictured it?”
“Oh no,” I reply instantly. “No, no, no, no, no.” Been there, done that, bought that particular t-shirt a lifetime ago, as he well knows, and it was nobody’s idea of a fairytale. We thought we were old enough, wise enough, in love enough – we were dead wrong. “As a great lady once almost said, I’ve said I do, and I’ve signed I don’t, and I’ve sworn I’d never do that again.”
He gives me another one of those questioning looks. “You’re calling KT Oslin a great lady now?”
I blink, because that’s not a quote I would have expected him to know. “What do you know from KT Oslin?” I ask, incredulous, and at his sheepish smile, the penny drops. “You’ve been stealing my iPod again.”
He holds up his hands as he laughs, bestowing upon me the smile that has women in fifty states falling at his feet. “Sweetness, you should know a playlist called “Guilty Pleasures” just begs to be listened to.”
Dammit, he has a point. Making a mental note to change the name of it as soon as possible, I return to the original question.
“Honestly… no. I’ve never thought about it.” I shrug, reaching out to pinch his cheek. “Besides, hot stuff, I’ve already met the man of my dreams, and we both know you’re not the marrying kind.”
His smile disappears, and he fixes me with a look that I’ve never seen before, and try as I might, I can’t seem to read it. “Do we?” is all he says, getting to his feet and crossing the room to the computer desk in the corner. His back is to me as he opens the drawer, so I can’t see what he’s taking out, but when he turns back, there is something in his hand.
It’s small, and black and cubic and it’s just the right size for…
“Oh my God.”
I hear myself say the words even before he opens the box, before the diamond and gold shine blinds me, and when they do, I say them again.
“Oh my God.”
I stare up at him and his face is totally and completely calm and serious as he speaks.
“Think again.”
