Fic: Looking Different, Criminal Minds, Morgan/Garcia

Title: Looking Different
Author: helsinkibaby
Fandom: Criminal Minds
Pairing: Garcia/Morgan
Rating: PG
Spoilers: None
Word Count: 238
Notes: For the writers choice challenge 273 “plain”. Partly for [livejournal.com profile] lasairfhiona who asked for fic with either of my two ships!

Ever since she can remember, Garcia’s always been the plain one, the one that guys just don’t find attractive. Which is not something that she has a problem with, as such; it’s just the way it is. JJ is blonde and lithe and gorgeous, Prentiss and Elle are both dark and lithe and gorgeous, but she’s just Garcia.

A little too quirky, a little too forthright, a lot too round.

No big, she thinks. She’s happy with herself just the way she is, and if guys can’t see that, well, screw ‘em. She’s made a good life for herself, and she can live without a man, even if her bed’s a little lonely in the aftermath of a nightmare.

Except that something strange has been happening lately, because someone doesn’t seem to have told Derek that she’s the plain one. And it’s not that she’s looking any different, but he seems to be.

Because when the team goes out, he’s ignoring all the women who are eyeing him up, and he’s stuck to her side like flies on honey, and when his gaze wanders in the middle of a briefing, he’s not looking at JJ or Prentiss, he’s looking at her.

Looking at her like she’s the best looking thing he’s seen in a long time and he can’t get enough of her.

And Garcia’s liking that just fine; in fact, it’s something she could get used to.
