There are days!
I was in HMV today, and what did my blue eyes see but Janet Jackson’s latest CD. But this was not any old CD, oh no. This CD had a limited edition DVD with it. Which had videos on it. Including the video to Again. Which has some guy called Gary Dourdan in it. As you might know, I have something of a thing for him. Now HelsinkiSister, being a glass half empty kinda gal, pointed out that it could be, since it was an American import, a Region 1 DVD. Which I considered, and then she reminded me that she has a Region 1 DVD player in her room. So I could play it there. (HelsinkiSister is very generous) So I bought the CD.
Not being big with the delayed gratification, the minute I ejected HelsinkiDaddy from the sun room, where our family DVD player resides, I put in the DVD. And it played. And I looked at Gary Dourdan, and it was good.
Then HelsinkiSister uttered the immortal words, “I wonder is this a region free DVD, or a region free player?”
I said, “There’s only one way to find out.”
So HelsinkiSister toddles off downstairs, gets her Brooklyn South DVDs, and puts in it in the player.
IT FREAKING WORKED!!!!!
Understand, that this is a three year old DVD player, that has a Region 2 stamp at the back of it. It never, in my life, occurred to me to think that it was Region free. Except it is, evidently.
There are no words to express how happy I am right now.
Except that not content with that, I decided to try the Janet CD on my shiny new computer.
It worked.
HelsinkiSister was promptly dispatched to get the Region 1 DVD again, and it was put into my machine.
IT FREAKING WORKED!!!!!
Off now I go to burn my credit card. And I shall not go to Amazon. Or Playusa.com. No, no, no, nope, not me.
