Seriously. Any time this week would like to fucking stop, that'd be great.

RIP Troy Gentry.

Perhaps only smiley-b will care about this but found while surfing YouTube - a St Elsewhere reunion, with a clip of yes, THAT scene!

I refuse to rant about it (though it was, is and e'er will be the most heinous act of hackery perpetuated by writers on an unsuspecting audience. Bobby in the shower? Insert Moffat moment here? They got nothing on the last few minutes of St Elsewhere!) though Chad seems to have a sense of humour about it....

A piece of my childhood was lost today...Ben Matlock, I knew you well. RIP Andy Griffith.

So I'm thinking of my [livejournal.com profile] het_bigbang (which I managed to map out when administering standardised tests to a classful of kids once I'd finished my other work and was bored, and before the fit hit the shan yesterday afternoon) and am now looking at YouTube for Nate links...

Hetty catches Nate reading comic books/graphic novels. We learn later in the series that Kensi has a collection. Coincidence?

Apparently, Nate has, in the past, backed into Hetty's Jag. And Kensi likes a man in a suit.

WAIT! THERE IS A VID JUST ENTITLED KENSI AND NATE? HOW DID I NOT KNOW THIS?

It is slow to load and I cannot get sound. I am saving this for later!

Nate joins Kensi in the field, from 1x16 "Chinatown". Nate busts her chops like partners do, she threatens him with a muzzle. The topic? Being in a relationship. I have just got a whole new scene. No I don't, it won't fit in with my timeline. Damn. Hang on. I can rewrite the timeline. And get extra scenes and bump the word count. Give me pompoms.

Haven't seen this but it's called the secrets of Kensi and purports to tell her story as we know it. Again, saving for later.

I needed to see posts like this after the day I had (two parents in before half ten, and the principal not in? Pass the vino!)...

Seen on [livejournal.com profile] mosca's LJ, The 10 Greatest Figure Skaters Who Never Won An Olympic Medal. Interesting look, but not as interesting as [livejournal.com profile] mosca's sequel part one; twenty great skaters who never won an Olympic medal.

Lots of YouTube links, oh the fun that will be had!

So I get home from the church after attending a Confirmation preparation ceremony, and while Nimoy is getting ready for bed I do a quick facebook scan and as if punishment for being a bad mother, I lose a part of my childhood with the news that Davy Jones of the Monkees has passed away.

Obviously, I'm too young for the original broadcast. (Obviously, ok? Way obviously!) But one summer the BBC repeated all the programs, and then showed them on Saturday mornings and I used to love it when they played out with Daydream Believer because as only the very young and innocent can, I believed that he was singing about my mum.

My Flash Plugin is crashing so I can't play YouTube on the laptop and don't know if this can really link, but this is what I'll be teaching my class tomorrow....

And this is only for people of a certain age, or possibly just [livejournal.com profile] smiley_b

Let me know if these can/can't be seen????

For [livejournal.com profile] maggis who sat on my sofa last night and was spoiled for the Mentalist, a link to a fic, Summer Burns Red, not written by me. Is awesome and so good!

And because of the news that we heard that night...

Best Superbowl Anthem Performance EVER.

One Moment in Time... you know, it's astounding how many of these athletes I remember? Also how Ben Johnson's raised finger still makes me feel ill, and shots of Greg Louganis atop a diving board circa '88 make me cringe over what might be coming next - don't worry, he's in here but it's not *the* clip.

And just because you have to... Whitney performing One Moment in Time live at the Grammys. A-MAY-ZING!

RIP

Meant to post this last night but didn't have the computer turned on and can't figure out how to embed from the iPad!

RIP Etta James

I may not make my 100 words today; then again, I just posted my Mentalist Big Bang fic so I think if I ever had an excuse to take a knee, it's now.

And because I had mild brain freeze when typing the author's notes for the big bang and had to google to check I had the name of the singer right whose song I got the section titles from, I came across the video on YouTube so am linking it here even though none of you (apart from perhaps [livejournal.com profile] smiley_b) know the song or care!

If I did...

So, rooting around youtube as husband is on the phone and I end up looking at Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood clips. Therefore this post is brought to you by the phrase I don't but if I did...

The official video of the duet.

A fan made video which is actually more interesting!

All their hosting moments from the 2011 CMAs together... now with added Muppets! (Because everything is better with Muppets!)

Funny skit from CMA Fest 2010

CMA Awards Opening 2010

CMA Awards Opening 2009 (hey, why not?!)

And for completist sake, 2008!

OK, I've just watched this dance twice on the bounce, Saturday night having seen it with a plastic bucket over my head, don't ask, and I can now truly say that this jive? Was Halfpennyesque!

Here, watch it!

And just because it can never be linked enough - The Halfpenny.

Sixteen years ago today, Sergei Grinkov passed away. He was 28 years old.

Have some skating.

Hard to believe that Daria is now 19 years old with an American accent...how the time does fly!

The quintessential G&G program.

Off for more YouTube now!

If this works it will be Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir from Skate Canada 2011 gala, I Want To Hold Your Hand... another chapter from the "I Don't But If I Did" story.

ETA: Wahooey!!!!!

Have just finished watching Strictly's Broadway week, and great googly moogly, the disappointment that it was. OK, some of the routines were really good (Jason was, as Craig said, stupendous, and Alex and James were ethereal and beautiful and Robbie and Ola continue to amaze and surprise) but overall... Holly's tango? Blah. (Does Artem just not like her or are the Kara jealousy stories really true?) Anita and Robin were a hot mess (and I repeat, after Austin, no one should touch that music) and as for Aliona and Harry's jive to Greased Lightning, it only serves to prove that she's a shite choreographer, because there was too little dance and too much posing for my liking and a nine for a score? No. Just no.

So, in an effort to cheer myself up after that, I youtubed my favourite jives (the jive is my favourite dance) so therefore I must spam you all with them too.

ETA: OK embedding is still not working for me. I don't know what's up with that.

First, the jive by which all others, according to It Takes Two are measured - Jill Halfpenny and Darren Bennett, I'm Still Standing from the final of the second series. The first full house in Strictly history.

Darren and Jill jiving

Robin and Anita? This is why your music was a bad, bad idea. 2008, Austin Healey and Erin Boag, You Can't Stop the Beat
You Can't Stop the Beat

2010, Scott Maslen and Natalie Lowe, Hit the Road Jack - Scott, I could take or leave, never been overly fond of Natalie, and Lord knows I've bitched and moaned about overmarking on the show for the last few seasons. But this? This I would have given a 10 to, no question.
Hit the Road Jack

And finally, the best pro dance ever in the history of the show... Rebel Yell
More, more more

Here endeth the lesson.

Best. Rumba. Ever.

[livejournal.com profile] smiley_b recced it and I've just seen it on Watch, and thank God Himself is on nights tonight because I was a sobbing mess before the end of the VT! Karina and JR Martinez dance the rumba to Tim McGraw's If You're Reading This. *passes the tissues*

ETA: Edited because I can't get the embedding to work but the link is THIS AND YOU SHOULD TOTALLY CLICK IT EVEN IF YOU HATE KARINA LIKE I DO AND EVEN IF YOU DON'T LIKE COUNTRY MUSIC BUT MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TISSUES

Just looked at the series 6 finale of Criminal Minds. Vaguely nonspoilery thoughts here )

And because it's too cool not to, linked by [livejournal.com profile] leobrat

ETA: OK, so embedding media is not working for me. Let's try just a link Taylor Swift sings "Long Live" in the pouring rain at Gillette Stadium

I think most people might have seen this already but it's a Battle of the Blades clip from YouTube where Katia Gordeeva and Pavel Buré skate together...bit of fluff at the start has Daria Grinkova talking...she's 18 now, and it's so hard to believe that she's the same little blonde thing that hugged Katia as she came off the ice at Celebration of a Life. And still the image of her daddy.

Further to this morning's post...now with YouTube links!

Brad and Carrie's opening monologue for the 43rd annual CMA Awards ... the Mamas, Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Kanyes was good, but keep watching... the Brooks and Dunn section had me in tears.

Little Jimmy Dickens Goes Kanye on Brad Paisley - and it's what he says as he's going offstage that makes it art, I swear.

It looks like I may have found the Holy Grail of Torrents.... all 6 seasons of Fame. *excuses self to do cartwheels around the house*

Have set season six up to download (the lure of Reggie and Ian is too strong people! and the last episode! ZOMG!!!!!!!!!!) and it's tootling away there... think it'll be season four next, then will toss a coin for five and three... *crosses fingers*

Also, in honour of same, an oldie but a goodie, and from the date, happy birthday to me, but Adam Pascal of Rent and Michael Cerveris of Fame/Hedwig/Fringe etc perform Under Pressure at the Sh-k-boom closing night 2003.

Since [livejournal.com profile] cheapevilgirl's link has gone the way of the Dodo (or at least the eagle eyes of the NBC copyright department), everyone needs to have a Zack attack ... I swear, I have never loved Mark Paul Gosselaar more. (And I watched NYPD Blue til the end, I loved him plenty!)

Also? I'm sure the Jimmy Fallon makeup people had something to do with it, but seriously... there is a picture in that man's attic!
