Have just finished watching Strictly's Broadway week, and great googly moogly, the disappointment that it was. OK, some of the routines were really good (Jason was, as Craig said, stupendous, and Alex and James were ethereal and beautiful and Robbie and Ola continue to amaze and surprise) but overall... Holly's tango? Blah. (Does Artem just not like her or are the Kara jealousy stories really true?) Anita and Robin were a hot mess (and I repeat, after Austin, no one should touch that music) and as for Aliona and Harry's jive to Greased Lightning, it only serves to prove that she's a shite choreographer, because there was too little dance and too much posing for my liking and a nine for a score? No. Just no.
So, in an effort to cheer myself up after that, I youtubed my favourite jives (the jive is my favourite dance) so therefore I must spam you all with them too.
ETA: OK embedding is still not working for me. I don't know what's up with that.
First, the jive by which all others, according to
It Takes Two are measured - Jill Halfpenny and Darren Bennett,
I'm Still Standing from the final of the second series. The first full house in Strictly history.
Darren and Jill jivingRobin and Anita? This is why your music was a bad, bad idea. 2008, Austin Healey and Erin Boag,
You Can't Stop the Beat You Can't Stop the Beat2010, Scott Maslen and Natalie Lowe,
Hit the Road Jack - Scott, I could take or leave, never been overly fond of Natalie, and Lord knows I've bitched and moaned about overmarking on the show for the last few seasons. But this? This I would have given a 10 to, no question.
Hit the Road JackAnd finally, the best pro dance ever in the history of the show...
