Do people still do GIPs? (Mind you, considering my history of late, the question should rather be, do people still post?) Anyhoo, here is a GIP, courtesy of the lovely
thtwzjustadream who is far more talented with the photoshop than what I am!
In nice news, I have done a word count on my Het Big Bang (writing all over the story, in separate files to make the separate pieces easy to find) and I have hit the magic number! Yay! I am, in fact, over 27k, with two major sections still to go which will total at least 5k, so I should be good. Now if I can get it all written by deadline, I'll be fine!
Now, a Question of Most Import for Ye Olde Friends' List.
Ghostbusters. The new one, that is.
Nimoy, being six and a half (and yes, I am scared to write that sentence too) has seen the two original Ghostbusters films and enjoyed them greatly. No nightmares, the odd "huh" moment and she kinda tends to watch a lot of stuff on the tv wandering around the living room anyway, but she likes them. Nimoy, being a girl, is very looking forward to seeing the new All Girl Ghostbusters. Which is rated 12A over here - and she's tall for her age and all, but she's not going to pass for 12 or anywhere near it. (The old ones were both rated PG but then, there was no such thing as 12/12A back then. Now I'm thinking they would be too?)
So, my question, Ye Olde Friends List. Being as there is a plethora of *cough*options*cough* available to us in this wondrous day and age in which we live, those of you who have seen Ghostbusters, what are your thoughts on its suitability for a 6 year old who has seen the others and liked them?
All thoughts and advice gratefully received, spoilers not a problem!!!
Wonderings...
Jan. 10th, 2013 10:59 pmAnd can anyone remember how to change the headers on LJ? Because I kinda may have made myself a Nate/Kensi header and since I seem to have signed up for two (am I out of my mind?) Big Bangs with them in mind, I might think about using it?
Yeah, computer illerate. There was a time when I knew how to do these things, I swear. (Or maybe not. I can't remember!)
Quick question

Aug. 1st, 2012 11:02 pmHas anyone else had trouble with AO3 and uploading long stories? Because I put up my two big bang stories there yesterday. Did everything right, looked fine, pressed post and got an email today to say that only the prologue of the Nate/Kensi was there. It took me five tries tonight to get it all put up there and that was with deleting the work twice. Just checked the Cho/Van Pelt now and the first couple sections of the first half posted fine, then it jumped to a random part of the second! I'm on my phone now, of course, so have just deleted the whole thing and will attack it again tomorrow.
This is happening when I import from LJ directly and when I copy/paste from LJ and/or Word.
Any ideas?

There is good news! I have almost, I mean so close to almost that it actually hurts, finished the first draft of my
To help me complete it, is there anyone out there who can recall the name of the CBI office to which Rigsby was going to transfer in season two, but then he didn't have to because Grace called things off between them?
Alternatively, can someone give me the name of a city where the CBI could plausibly have an office one could work in but still live/commute to from Sacramento?
Thankies!

Aug. 30th, 2011 09:08 pmBack to school tomorrow for half day of staff meeting and half day of classroom planning. Fun times. Kids in on Thursday.
Please remind me next year to not go on holidays for a week the week before school goes back. Abigail, having slept in a cot in the same room as us for a week, now does not want to go to sleep on her own. Sunday, it wasn't an issue because she was so tired she just conked out. Yesterday it took nearly an hour and a half for her to go asleep, tonight 45 minutes. Both times, I used Supernanny's Sleep Separation technique, bless you Jo Frost wherever you are.

Oct. 13th, 2009 10:05 pmWhen Himself got home, I asked him this question, which I am throwing out into the universe.
Am I (or we, as he didn't know either) the only two people on the planet who didn't know that Alexander Siddig's uncle (mother's brother) is Malcolm McDowall????

Oct. 21st, 2008 07:03 pmFirst when he said he'd edit out bits of the church, and I quote, "the bits you'd fast forward through", I assumed he meant the consecration of the Mass, the Communion, etc, the bits that are the same at every Mass.
The First and Second Readings, which were picked because they meant something to us were not on the DVD. Not a good sign.
Second, when going through the disc to double check we hadn't missed them (dirt on the disc meant it skipped on the first go around) I noticed that when I was walking up the aisle, I was walking up the "asile" according to the DVD titles.
So I mentioned this to him, assuming it was a mistake. He then proceeded to tell me that that is the correct way of spelling it, because it comes from Old Latin, and they spell it like that all the time, and I do quote, because "it avoids all the arguments then."
I managed to bite my tongue and not point out that I am not old, nor am I Latin, and merely pointed out that that might be all very well and good, but that it's not the way most people spell it. I was told that it was still right. I then asked could it be changed to the way that most people would spell it, because every time I looked at it, I would think automatically that it was wrong.
"Oh, we can do that," is what I was told.
Upon hanging up from him, I googled. I wikipedia'ed. I went to Merriam Webster online and Dictionary.com. I looked up etymology sites and Latin to English sites. And I checked the two print dictionaries that we have in the house. NOWHERE can I find reference to this Old Latin horseshit that got handed down the phone to me. And I mean, if google and wiki can't find it, how far off the path have we strayed???
Ergo, my question to see how you all would spell it!
And, I suppose, my further question - if this were your wedding video, or you were looking at a wedding video, and you saw "asile", would you think that it was spelled wrong?
By the way, he said he'd check about the readings and get back to me in the next couple of days; I don't give a rat's ass what he says, it's totally being changed!

Mar. 30th, 2008 01:23 pmQuestion - one morning over breakfast, I looked at, for the first time, the Stargate episode The Road Not Taken. (I didn't have Sky when I moved and missed chunks of season ten. It sucked.) Anyhoo, my thought is this. There must, somewhere, somehow, by someone, be written AlternateUniverse Sam/Lorne fic out there. There has to be, hasn't there? Or must I write my own? (Planning a wedding, class from hell, not got time to do it people, there must be some out there!)

Jan. 9th, 2007 09:33 pmFic related Stargate question as my mind's gone blank. When did Sam become a Colonel? And how does this relate in the timeline to the Atlantis pilot? (If the answer to the second question is "before", then that would be all kinds of heavenly, thank you!)

Jan. 4th, 2007 10:55 pmI have a free day tomorrow wherein I must run around the town and try to get some stuff done.
And, God knows I don't often do this, but! If there is anyone on my flist with a broadband connection, the ability to download a 30meg file and throw it on a CD and post said CD over to me, with obviously the attendance cost/postage/name your price being covered by me, would you please be so kind as to drop me an email, or comment with your email address please, and thank you!
