Sep. 22nd, 2006 07:44 pmMeant to update this last night, but got distracted by crashing a wedding afters!
It's been a bad week on the house buying front... not sure what I put up here before, but basically, the couple selling the house were splitting up, it was an acrimonious split, and she was buying him out of the house so that she could sell it. He wasn't signing the deeds over, hence the by now three month wait on what was meant to be a quick sale. Last I heard he was supposed to be signing on Friday 8th Sept. Got phone call on Tuesday from estate agents to say that he hadn't signed, and that it now looked like they were going to have to get a court order to force him to sign. Cue the colour draining out of my face. Wednesday, talked to my solicitor about it, he said that there was no way of knowing how long it was going to take for the court action to go through, especially since yer man had already been paid off, and the solicitor (who is, unsurprisingly no longer on the case!) *forgot* to get him to sign the transfer deed. (I mean, seriously, was he absent that day in law school?)
So Tuesday and Wednesday were very depressed and upset nights, and I couldn't type/talk about it, not without bursting into tears anyway, because tenuous and nebulous and all as our plans are, we do have plans and this was screwing them up.
Then! Yesterday, my phone rings, it's the estate agents. Yer woman has been on the phone to him, and the document has been signed!!! (Great day in the morning people!!!!) My solicitor rang me this morning, wanting to know had I heard the news, and basically, the contracts should be ready for signing soon.... the draft is already done, they're just waiting on this document to let it all go ahead... and she's going to want to go soon because she's already done a deal for a house in town so it should be good for us... I am very relieved and very happy... Numfar, do the dance of joy!
Of course, I am now going outside to turn around three times, curse and spit, just in case I'm tempting fate.
