Definition of irony... during the many times that skating has been on the tv, I have wished that I did not have to go to school. Now, I have a sick cert that signs me off for the whole of this week, the week of the European Championships, but because the kids are going for their entrance exams on Feb 2nd, I feel bad about taking the time off!
In explanation, I finished my antibiotics for my ear infection last Monday, but knew my ears still weren't right. Didn't go back to doc, didn't stay off work, as I thought it just needed time to fade away gracefully. Which lasted until Saturday morning when I woke up, sat up in bed, and the room tilted on its axes (yes, both of them!) and continued to do so. It happened off and on all day, when I lay down on Saturday night, and when I woke up Sunday, continued off and on all day yesterday. Off to the doctor's I trooped, where she said it was vertigo as a result of the ear infection and that I was to stay quiet for the week, no driving, no working, no going on ladders or standing on chairs... and all I can think of is those bloody exams!
That said, I went in today, though technically I shouldn't have, and there is a (good and reliable) sub coming in for the rest of the week. I am going to take the time to get over this thing once and for all (though the frustrating thing is that the dizziness comes and goes, and while the nausea is there and constant, it's very very mild and just enough to be annoying without being debilitating, so I don't feel like I'm sick at all!). And watch skating in the meantime. (Yes, I have moved back into the parental abode temporarily. Sue me!)
