May. 4th, 2010 10:28 pmLinked more for myself than anyone else, fandom_wank's response to Diana Gabaldon's rant against fanfiction - link to original Diana post at the top of this one.
*headdesk at the original post* Because did you know that fanfic is illegal and immoral, and that those who do it are on a par with child molesters?
*headdesk at some of the comments* People who have never heard of fanfic, but since DG is against it decide that it's evil and immoral and wrong. People who have never heard of DG coming in and saying that they'll never read her books. And the valid points aroundabout that mention the use of real people in some of her books, and the comments (that I've felt myself) that her books have gone downhill since she got so caught up in showing off all her historial research and seemed to forget about actual *plot*.
And also, two really good defenses of fanfic here and here.
