Dec. 6th, 2010 11:01 pmBack to school today after being closed on Wed, Thurs and Fri because of the snow. Made it in this morning, after Himself having to help me scrape the car, and negotiating our lethal hill and road in -6 temperatures while muttering darkly about those who mock public servants and some perceived lack of dedication. In the course of my normal 7 minute drive taking 15, the temp went up from -6 to -5. On leaving school, it was a balmy 0.5, however this dropped to -3 when I got home, at four in the afternoon.
After dinner, I get a phone call from HelsinkiMammy to tell me it's snowing again, and HelsinkiCousin who lives in the town where I teach said that it was covered. Between texts and facebook, discover that 20 mins north and south of the school is covered in snow, one girl on FB said the snow was now half way up the wheels of her car. It's been solidly snowing since about 6 and it still is.
10.30 at night, get text to say that school is closed again tomorrow for health and safety reasons. My fortnightly plan for this fortnight will now at least do for half of next fortnight!
And yes, I do feel the quote is appropriate!
