So browsing comments at the Doomed Ship Comment Ficathon, and I see this and I write it and I don't know why, I don't even really ship these two and I've never written in this fandom!

She's waiting for him when he gets home from the hospital, and to say he's surprised to see her there is an understatement.

"Not tonight, Santana," he says, pushing by her, and if that's rude, he doesn't care. He just wants to climb into bed and sleep for a week. Alone. Maybe then he'll have forgotten about ten little fingers and ten little toes and big blue eyes. "I'm not in the mood."

Santana grabs his arm, and for a girl she's got a strong grip, making him turn to face her. "You think I'm here for sex?" she demands, sounding and looking pissed.

He shrugs. "Isn't that what you're always here for?"

She gives him that look that she reserves for people who are dumber than dirt, the one she used to keep for the Glee Club members, back before she was one. "Noah Puckerman, I should hit you right now," she tells him and she looks like she's going to so he takes a step back. "I came over here because I thought you might want to talk." She nudges something with her foot and he looks down to see a brown bag of groceries. "I brought ice cream... and chocolate and stuff." She shakes her head. "Never mind, it was stupid."

She moves away and it's his turn to grab her arm. "Why don't you come inside?" he hears himself saying. "I wouldn't mind some company."

Santana smiles and he finds himself noticing for the first time that it's a really awsome smile. "I'd like that."

For the first time since he stood at that nursery window with Quinn, Puck feels like smiling. "Me too."

Even more surprising, he means what he says.
