Songs were not as bad as I feared. Corey Monteith was well cast as Brad, thought Kurt's makeup in Time Warp was outstanding. Nice to see Uncle Jesse rocking out, that was probably my favourite song of the night.
The stuff with Will and Emma...especially the bit where Will got Sam to not be Rocky so that he could be... put it this way, I could hear the Will-haters screaming online, and while I don't hate Will, in this instance I know exactly where they're coming from. Highly inappropriate behaviour from a teacher (and I thought the same about Toxic from the Britney ep) and I wanted to, to borrow someone else's phrase, set him on fire.
Also, inappropriate material for teenagers is right, and I've got to say, while the content of eps may have been similar last season, the difference with me is I'm back from mat leave, I'm in the classroom with 11/12 year old girls who watch this show and I spent a good deal of this episode (and last week's, and as for the Grilled Cheesus episode, please let me not even go there) thinking to myself "Man oh man I hope their parents Sky-plussed this for them and watched it first" though I think that's like wishing for a unicorn for Nimoy for her birthday. Emma's rendition of "Toucha Touch Me" (did I get the name right? I'm trying to erase the visuals from my brain so it might be wrong) was .... words fail me and that never happens. I can't believe it got in before the watershed. And Brittany and Santana watching? Creepy. And Finn walking through the hall in his tighty whiteys? I cringed. I covered my eyes. And when that didn't work, I took off my glasses. That worked! (And also served to tell me how bad my eyesight really is. But I digress.)
Yeah, lots of stuff about the show upsetting me this year. Sophomore jinx, buying into its own hype, call it what you will but nowhere near as good as last year.
Himself was away on Friday night so I got to catch up on NCIS LA and episode 2x03 where they gave my Nate a send off. To Kabul. The man who they wouldn't let hold a gun last season? Was reading the TWoP forums and they seemed to agree with me that Haunted Scruffy Nate is all kinds of hot, and I like that they gave him a reason for leaving. Not so much that he left without saying goodbye to anyone but Hetty. His shirt started looking a little red to me right then! However, Peter Cambor has said that there is an arc and that people will see him again so I live in hope. (Though not much; I remember an interview with Stargate Showrunners where they said Carson Beckett would "disappear" in Stargate Atlantis; they neglected the full context which was "disappear into a million bitty pieces when we blow him up with a bomb."
Deeks is annoying me. I wanted Kensi to shoot him and leave his body in the desert for birds to pick at.And then go back to HQ and throw herself at HotTorturedAngsty Nate
Hetty continues to rock. "The Democratic Republic of None of Your Damn Business"! Oh Hetty never change.
