On a day when I heard the words "style", "class" and "Ronnie O'Sullivan" in the same sentence. Without the word "No" in sight. The end of the world is nigh.

And speaking of.

OK. Have just about stopped shaking. Which is a total lie but thank God for spell checkers.

Right. Well, it was a night where no-one really performed well.

Fantasia - Get on your Feet - it might have been Gloria Estefan night, but I was worried she was going to do a Janet Jackson... that bustline looked in grave danger! Song was good, plenty of energy, though I tended to agree with Randy who didn't really feel it and Simon who thought she was Donald Duck on helium. But then I've always thought that. One shout out to Jennifer was nice; multiples were a bit much. Have to say though, she took her criticism better than I've ever seen her do it before. Helsinkisister disagrees, what with the face and all; I say at least she didn't backchat as was her wont.

George - Live for Loving You - well, we all know how I feel about George. And in case you don't, he could live for loving me anytime. Liked the dancing, vocally still not his best, but considering that I adopted the "Manilow Week" approach and anticipated train-wrecking-disaster, I was quite happy.

Latoya - Rhythm is Gonna Get You - hey Latoya, Debbie Allen called, she wants her DNA back. Which is not a slam, just stating facts. Very good, very polished as usual, but am I alone in thinking that she's the only one who could get away with not singing for about 15 seconds in the middle of her performance and not get slammed for it?

John - Music of my Heart - ah, the poor lad. Simon had it right... chocolate ice cream and onions are him and Latin music. I still say, by the way, George should have picked this, channeled Ruben from last year, minus the forgetting of the words, and knocked this one out of the park. But yes... John was awful this week, and I think Randy was generous with the three notes in tune bit... have to say, I'm at the point with him where I'm nearly wondering if he screwed up on purpose, because it was so bad... had a feeling he was singing it for his really cool grandparents.

Jasmine- Here We Are -- oooh, can we talk about starting well and going downhill? Very pitchy, very shouty, and what the hell was she wearing? Top was ok, but with the vest thing underneath it? Trousers vile, hair was great.

Diana - Turn the Beat Around -- ah. Revenge of Goat Girl sings Turn the Bleat Around. Could anything be more perfect? In fairness to the girl, she was good tonight, one of her best performances. Am with Simon on the dress, because if I had her figure (and gotta say, I do) I would have those slits to knee length. But that's me. Shameful note though; helsinkisister asked me who was better with that song, Diana or Carmen last year... I didn't even blink when I said Carmen. Who'd'a thunk that one?

Results... I called the bottom three during our commercial break between the show and the results show, though I had Jasmine and John as bottom two. (I know. Big surprise huh?) When I saw the couch line up, I was even more sure that I was right, so I wasn't surprised, though I was nervous during the final commercial break. When they told George to step back, I was sure he was safe; at least until Seacrest spoke up, and that's the second time they've tricked my George in two weeks, I am not impressed! In the wait for the big announcement, I was more nervous than I have ever been for any Idol result ever, because although I thought that John should go, because hello he was awful, I was really afraid that JS had the fanbase to edge it... I was very relieved when Seacrest said that it was John... was shaking like a leaf, stomach churning; I haven't been that badly off since the World Skating Championships. < shakes head > I think this means that the George bug has bit even harder than before. Dammit.

Have to say, loved how JS was so classy in the way he went out... when Seacrest asked him if he was relieved, my personal answer would have been "No shit Sherlock." Like I say, classy boy. And I loved what Simon said to him about how he took every criticism that was given to him and just dealt with it... for sixteen years old, to know that he shouldn't probably be there, to come there every week and perform and take it all in his stride, that shows a lot of class. Which is why I like him, even if I'm glad he went; at this stage it's a mercy for him.

Speaking of people who are gone -- was that JPL < shudder > that I saw in the audience? Was that problem not dealt with two weeks ago?

Next week... top five. Are we now into singing two songs? And what is the theme?
