Notes: For the
tww100 “gas station” challenge. Title was also a country song that I can’t remember the lyrics to, but which I’m sure had nothing to do with the content of this drabble!
Lighting in a gas station forecourt is not flattering.
Will knows this rule, knows also Donna is the exception.
She’s asleep in his car, long blonde hair looking almost white, falling around her shoulders, blending into her skin. Eyes shut, her dark lashes contrast with her pink cheeks, and her mouth is curled up in a tiny smile as she dreams pleasant Donna-dreams.
His hand reaches out to her cheek, but stops just short of contact, tracing thin air, and he sighs, “You are the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen.”
Under the lights of the Texaco, Donna sleeps on.
