First of all, who can tell me where I can sign/start a petition to get Jeremy Vine removed from Eggheads? He's bloody awful! Come back Dermot, all is forgiven!
Second, my other half is working today and going out for a drink after; I am having a computer/sofa night after a horrendous couple of days. I have the new CSI downloaded, and despite not having watched the back end of season 8 (6 eps to go) I am nonetheless going to fire it up and watch. Apparently it will give me an excuse to sob and howl. (This is not a spoiler, unless someone has no knowledge of the end of season 8. If that is you, my apologies.)
Thirdly, Criminal Minds, 4.03
I think that we can all take it as read by now that I am in the middle of a massive Hotch crush, which is a recent development. Therefore, forgive me a bit of the flaily hands as I mention Casual!Hotch. Plaid shirt, top button open, tan chinos, no suit and tie, oh thank you!!! And also, him smacking down the State Attorney General? *fans self* Love that man!
And yes, it may have backfired as you just know the State AG leaked that there were FBI agents in there, but necessary and all that.
The Rossi and Hotch scene where Hotch puts Rossi in charge... love it. And Hotch's sheer helplessness and almost lost-ness as he faced losing yet another person from his life *loves Hotch*
"I can't go in there"... more on that later!!!
Luke Perry I thought did cult leader very well. Just nice enough with a creepy touch.
Poor Prentiss, getting her ass kicked like that, and I loved how she was with it enough to send the team messages ("I can take it" "I don't know if you can hear me, but...") Very strong and capable, and I think she put herself in that place because she knew that (a) Reid could get Cyrus's ear quicker and (b) she thinks she's more able to take the punishment than Reid. (Does she know about his drug problem? I can't remember) Loved how she reassured him, not once, but twice, that she was ok and it wasn't his fault.
Thought Reid was great too, and I'm not usually a Reid fan, but he kept them talking, got himself into a position where Cyrus trusted him, and but for him, a few more of them would have been blown up; he was the one who realised what Jessie was going to do. Not sure if CM will do some follow up into the effects on him though...
The hug between Reid and Prentiss at the end? Was adorable.
And also? Fic!

Spoilers: Minimal Loss
Word Count: 486
It is approaching three in the morning on the third day of the stand-off and JJ is well beyond exhausted. It’s been a long time since she’s seen this hour on the clock, mid-sleep bathroom breaks notwithstanding, and there’s a part of her that is almost glad that this will soon be over; otherwise she might just keel over.
There’s another part of her, though, that feels guilty for thinking that, because Reid and Emily are trapped inside that compound, and the rest of the team are about to storm it and a lot of lives could be lost in the next few minutes. And all she can do is stand here on the sidelines, behind the cordon of vehicles, and watch and wait.
Her hands are shaking, which she’s trying to tell herself is just from the cold, but she knows better. Junior does too, squirms uneasily in her belly, and she frowns, runs a hand over her ever growing bump as if that act will be enough to restore calm. Junior responds by placing a harder kick than ever against her palm and it’s all she can do not to wince.
“You shouldn’t be here.” Hotch is at her side, and when she looks at him she sees that he’s not looking at her face, rather at her hand. She can guess what he’s thinking and it’s nearly enough to bring a smile to her face.
Nearly.
Instead, she simply raises one eyebrow. “Neither should you,” she points out, because while his ears make it impossible for him to go into the compound, even this close might be too close if the worst were to happen.
“Touché,” he allows, a wry smile turning up the corners of his lips, and absurdly she finds herself noticing what he is wearing. No jacket, no tie, shirt sleeves rolled up, and she can’t remember the last time she saw him dressed like that, notes dimly that it’s a good look on him. Junior kicks again at that, seemingly objecting to the disloyal thought and she rubs her hand over her belly again, hoping he won’t notice.
He does though; he was always does. “It’s going to be ok you know,” he tells her quietly, and she has never wanted to believe him more.
“I know,” she lies, and maybe he hears the doubt in her voice, because he reaches over, takes her hand in his. His skin is warm to the touch, solid and secure, and she feels the benefit instantly. So too does Junior, who stills, and at last JJ allows herself a small smile as she squeezes Hotch’s fingers.
He smiles back, nods once, and then turns his attention back to the compound.
He doesn’t let go of her hand and for that, she is grateful.
