Dance... only caught highlights of CD yesterday... initial impression is that Domnina kicked Shabalin around the place after that fall and that's why they've retired from the competition today! She didn't look happy!!! Delighted for the Kerrs (who I've yet to see) in 3rd place, and also for Sassy Massy in second.
Men.. only saw Brian Joubert on the highlights. Initial impression - Yags just called, he wants his DNA back.
Pairs - thought Kawaguchi and Smirnov were unlucky to be in 3rd after the short, I loved it. (Totally called Swan Lake btw.)
Mukhortova and Trankov were excellent, deserved the lead, shame she couldn't hold her nerve in the long. Thought them lucky to stay on the podium, as Voloshozhar and Morozov were outstanding in the free. He's improved hugely, and their throws and their lifts were outstanding. The last lift had me openmouthed, as Himself stood and looked on, wondering what I was muttering about! Interesting point from Chris about them doing "Pearl Harbour" with worlds in LA... I'd like to think it wouldn't make a difference, but I remember Wing and Lowe getting booed in 2003 in Washington for doing a hippy/peace program on the eve of the invasion of Iraq so one never knows.
Savchenko and Szolkowy completely deserved the win. Like the short, thought that the free was beautiful.
Delighted for the second British pair, Erika and Robert, 7th in their first Euros is some achievement. Felt bad for Stacy and David, their free was not their day. Be interesting to see if NISA decide to send R&P to worlds instead of them.
Also liked the Italians, Della Monica and Kocon. Impressive programs. Vanessa James and Yannick Bonheur also worthy of mention, great free program.
I love it when a show answers a question with more questions!!!
First off, with Dee so prominent, I turned to Himself and said "She'll either be dead or a Cylon by the end of the episode." Why couldn't she have been a Cylon???? *wails* Great performance from Kandyse though, loved her little scene with Gaeta ("Little Ana's got her smile back") and the look on AJ's face when Apollo left the morgue... when she was humming in the Officers' quarters, thought it was a Cylon trigger, but no.
Interesting how all the Fleet Four have flashback of their lives on Earth... the revelation that Earth was a Cylon colony raised all sorts of questions for me... how did the Fleet Four come to be in the Fleet? How did there come to be a planet of Cylons? If I'm correct, the Cylon 7 have said that the Final Five left them to make their own way among the stars, or something such as that... so the colony came after the split, yes? So from whence did the other people we saw in Tyrol's flashback come? And why weren't they all reincarnated? Ellen-in-flashback told Tigh that it had all been arranged, that they'd be reborn, together... so were they chosen specially, or is it some religious dogma??
Ellen being the Fifth... on one hand, for so long I've been expecting it to be one of the Big Names (Adama, Roslin, Starbuck - not Lee, as he's Adama's son) that for it not to be one of them was a surprise. On the other hand, it makes sense that she wasn't with the Fleet (D'Anna said that there were only four with the fleet in ep9) and therefore wasn't activated in the Nebula.
That, by the way, was my notion for it to be Kara, because she wasn't with the Fleet during the Nebula either. And the whole way she came back from the dead and all, with the new Viper. When she and Leoben discovered the wreckage of the Viper, that was a mindfuck... if that's her body, what is she? Cylon? Some sort of Hybrid/Clone thing going on? Where did the Viper come from? We know there must have been some sort of time jump thing going on; she didn't know how long she'd been gone from the fleet/considered dead for... maybe some sort of spacial distortion?
I can't remember either... was there some sort of disturbance that turned on the transmitter in the Viper when Anders and Tyrol showed it to her in ep 10? I only watched it again on Monday night and I can't think of anything...
One theory that was mentioned in a thread on FSU that I looked at today was that some people are theorising that Ellen is an aged version of 6... which I initially went "Whuh?" about, then the more I thought about it, the more it kinda made sense... it would go a ways to explaining the pull that there was between Six-in-the-Brig and Tigh, why he kept going back there...and also the pull between Tigh and Ellen and how he couldn't let her go even though she was fracking her way through the whole Colonial Fleet. Where it falls down though, is that if the Final Five left the other Cylons behind, why would they have a 6 model on the planet? And wouldn't Tigh have recognised 6 as a younger version of his wife when he first saw her?
I's very confussed!!!!
