Things for what I am thankful...
Kristoffer Berntsson, thank you for making me laugh out loud when I saw you were skating to Axel F. And for making me go "Beep beep" at the appropriate place. Also, AHA for the last part? May you skate this to its full potential at worlds, the robot theme rocked.
Yannick Ponsero, thank you for doing such a blinding free program and making me smile, even though I expected nothing from you. You lead by miles for a long time, and leapfrogged up the standings to fourth.
Alban Preaubert, thank you for landing your tiny tiny jumps and making Kalinka sound interesting. Also for not making Annik Dumont's head explode in a bad way.
Kevin Van Der Perren, even sick as a dog you landed a triple triple triple in the second half of your free, among several other jumps. Your expression in kiss and cry when you saw that 3 beside your name was priceless, even if not as energetic as two years ago. I hope your lady wife does as well tomorrow. *crosses fingers*
Samuel Contesti... I did not see you yesterday, and seeing your name in third after the short surprised me. Like Chris and Nicky, I had no expectations of you, and I was never so happy to be wrong. Once Upon a Time in the West paired with Cotton Eyed Joe has no business working and you made it sing. You proved it's still possible to do an interesting program under COP restrictions and your reaction in the kiss and cry reminded me why I watch this sport in the first place. Enjoy your silver medal, I hope you bring the roof off at worlds.
Brian Joubert, congratulations on getting your title back. You may have been better, but you weren't half as good. < /bitchy >
