I don't want to push too far
Just a shot in the dark that you just might

Just A Kiss ~ Lady Antebellum
Kono's had her fair share of first dates. Some have been good, some have been bad, some have been downright horrendous. But she knows one thing - tonight? That's been one of the good ones.
A very good one.
She's surprised, because it was with Danny of all people.
Danny her team-mate, her friend.
Danny, the guy who's always been there for her, made her laugh when she thought she'd never even smile again.
Danny, whose shirt and tie combos make him an open target but which she finds kinda cute. More than kinda actually.
OK, she thinks as Danny walks her to her front door. Maybe she shouldn't have been that surprised.
Pushing the key into the lock, she turns towards him and smiles, knowing what's coming next and Danny doesn't disappoint. He presses his lips to hers in a kiss that manages to be sweet and promising all at once, making her stomach liquid and her knees weak. Sliding her arms around his neck, she deepens the kiss and it takes some measure of effort not to whimper in disappointment when he pulls back.
His eyes are dancing, lips smiling as she tilts her head towards the door, whispers, "Come on in," and his face doesn't change when he shakes his head. Hers does though; she feels her stomach drop, feels her smile slide right off her face.
She makes to pull away but Danny doesn't let her. "It's not like that, Kono," he tells her, pulling her body flush with his, lips brushing over hers once again. "Believe me, sweetheart, there is nothing more I want than to go in there and make love to you til the sun comes up." She can't help herself; the words send a shiver down her spine and he doesn't miss it, grin widening and becoming downright filthy. "And I'm going to...but not tonight. You... us... this is too important to screw it up by going too fast... so I'm ok with just a kiss goodnight."
He's so sincere that Kono can only smile. "That is the sweetest brush-off I've ever had," she teases, knows that he takes it that way when he pulls her in tighter, which she wouldn't have believed possible until he actually does it.
"It's not a brush off," he says before he kisses her again. "It's a promise."
Kono thinks she can live with that.
