OK, so I've just finished watching There's No Place Like Home , the episode of Criminal Minds that's just aired in the UK. (7x07).
And I realise that this may be an unpopular opinion and I may have just missed the whole point of the episode but me, I am all about the characters, I think we know this. And this episode? Well, ok, I am a JJ/Hotch shipper, you all know this about me. But unlike a lot of JJ/anyone shippers around the internets, I've never minded Will in canon. (Just not in my fanon but that's my right!) I always thought Will was presented as a very nice, very sweet guy who was mad about JJ and that was ok with me, him being in the show because I had fanfic and could have fun with that.
That said.
This episode?
Specifically the stuff at the start of the episode? Where she's just spent a shitload of time getting the child to sleep, gets beeped to come into work and he's all passive aggressive and I suppose you have to go in and no, no, you go, it's fine when his tone means it's clearly not and they've obviously had this argument before because she's all "please don't walk away like that" and she sounds like it's not the first time that they've gone down this road?
Ye gods and little fishies people, SO. MUCH. RAGE
I mean, seriously, she's doing her job. Yes it's not ideal. Yes she may have had more family friendly hours working at the Pentagon but she evidently wasn't happy there, as evidenced when she said she wasn't helping anyone there... because JJ loved her job at the BAU, loved being the person that the families could turn to because she knows what it's like to lose someone she loves and that part of her, that was how you met her, fell in love with her, you dickweed and now you're being all snarky and passive aggressive because what she's doing doesn't suit you?
Sweet *Jesus* that scene upped my blood pressure something fierce.
And suffice it to say, it also killed any semblance of benign feeling I might have had for Will. I say throw him into a tornado and let JJ have a delicious fling with Hotch who understands her and would have totally given her the jet were it not for the appropriations committee thing.
*RAGE*
Sidebar, AJ Cook's son is a little cutie. And how awesome was AJ in the bedtime story scene. (THOUGH! You made her APOLOGISE? For DOING HER JOB????!!!! Writers, you can bite me. Seriously. Season six was bad enough, now you pull this kind of shit?)
Is that a real book? Can I get it for Abigail? I need to know!
