Fandom Snowflake Challenge Day One

So the challenge for today was 3 self recs. Which usually not my thing to do but hey ho. One of these is from 2015, the other two were both written in 2016 which it is still too early in the day to be calling last year! All three are from The Flash

This was written between season one and two, before we knew anything about Francine and not to toot my own horn or anything but I prefer my story to the one they used in the show. This draws slightly from the comic arcs (which I haven't read, only seen referenced on message boards, so any mistakes are mine and don't go expecting total fidelity), features a quite out of character Rip Hunter (also written before LOT aired) and bounces between two timelines. I like the ending which might be the only bit that does fit in with the show continuity!

This was my 2016 Het Big Bang and I love it so much. The premise came about when I wondered what would happen if Joe and Caitlin were the same age. Which led me to throwing Caitlin back in time 20 years through never explained hand wavey science and seeing what happened. People commented that they didn't expect the ending to be what it was, but in a good way, and I think that's one of my favourite parts of the story - I did intend to do something else with the ending but couldn't figure it out and then I thought "what if" and it changed the whole story, opened it up to Het Big Bang type proportions. The title is a play on the Classic Star Trek episode which i came up with after hearing a throwaway line in the season three finale of Sleepy Hollow, of all things. So at least one good thing came out of that clusterfuck.

On comment fic, a request was made for a Strictly Come Dancing AU and it was made on opening weekend when I was all Strictly-fied and also, and no-one believes me when I say this, but I have all my songs picked out for if I were ever to be on the show, I have a playlist on my iPod and after watching skating for years, hearing music and seeing dancing/skating is second nature to me. So sketching out a fic where I have Joe as a singer and Caitlin as a pro dancer was very easy because I could find songs for each dance fairly easily and then it was a matter of finding the story to go along with it. I was off work for nearly three weeks with a chest infection that would not quit when I was writing this and it may have saved my sanity a little.

Oh, man. I have been there. I think that kind of runs through fandom, a near constant of fannishness.
