I now have a lower train track and bands. This is not yet sore. However I feel it will be. On the plus side, I did manage to eat my dinner.
Carol and Matthew... my meh couple continue to be my meh couple. I thought their first dance was very nice, quite elegant, nothing particularly memorable about it. Loved Breakaway though, good choice of music, and it did have nice flow. Her samba, I thought that I must have been looking at a different dance by the end of it. I thought it was lumpy, lacking energy (though he, as always, gave it loads) and I thought that she was wooden as hell. Club Tropicana was a good choice but I don't think she did enough with it.
Darren and Emma...I thought their waltz to The Way We Were was lovely, but not in the same league as Matt and Lilia's a couple of weeks ago, and I don't think it deserved two tens. Also, was it not a bit short? The paso doble... well, we all know my feelings on the paso doble, I thought this was good, I'm not so sure of her expressions throughout, though she did well to dance it with a leg injury. That said, I would have clipped that little fringey bit out of her eyes, and added about two inches to the front of that skirt while I was at it. Explosive by Bond... great music for it, I want to see this skated to at some point in the future!
Matt and Lilia... nice quickstep. Good, light on his feet, good speed, kept it going. Blower's Daughter was a great choice of music for a rumba, and while I agree that he spent a lot of time on his knees, I thought that he did quite a good job of it... the rumba's a harder dance for a man to do, because a lot of it is to do with presenting the woman as you're seducing her, and I thought he did it well.
Mark and Karen... I thought the foxtrot was dire, but California Dreaming was not a good choice of music for it, as HelsinkiMammy was at pains to point out. And his posture does go off, he was all bent forwards in it... the samba on the other hand was masterful. Good and fun and energetic, and I wasn't familiar with I Go To Rio but it's a great piece of music for a samba... they did themselves proud.
Louisa and Vincent... if Matthew and Carol are my meh couple, these are my bleh couple. And for all the talk about the teachers' pet syndrome biting Emma in the ass, I want to know how the hell it hasn't happened to Louisa yet. How can you tell her that her V waltz was maybe 50% V Waltz, and still give 8s? Either the dance was in character or it wasn't! Either you did the steps or you didn't, and when Craig criticised someone a few weeks ago for the entry step being half the routine, and not said the same thing to her, that's insane. And as for the samba... Rescue Me, from these two please! Someone somewhere needs to tell her to keep her head up and her tongue in, and in fact two of them did so now if they just fricking do it, I will be happy.
Or not, as I want them to go next week.
