Back online briefly to update you on the fact that Himself is now a full time resident of the Republic! Had a lovely St Patricks weekend just moving in and unpacking what was brought back in the car; the seven tonne truck (!!!!) is arriving on Friday! Ferry sailing was nothing short of lovely; nice drive to Holyhead, bit of wait to get on, then very efficiently in and onto the boat, nice three hour crossing (thank you for the prayers) and then fifty minutes of a drive to my mum's house (which is going through the outskirts of the city centre in rush hour traffic - we done good!!!!)

I have no other news as I have not been online and have seen nothing... what have I missed????

Bit of a newflash... the thing that I mentioned there might be news on, the thing that I asked you all to cross your fingers for?

Is that, on Wednesday evening, I fly over to England. I take a course day (personal leave day) on Thursday, which is also the day that Himself and Myself get on a ferry and move him over to Ireland for good. The removal guys have taken all the stuff from his house (not sure when it ends up over here, but we're harm), the keys get handed over tomorrow, and then it is all done and dusted. *happy dances*

Seems like a very long time since I updated this!

Had great time at SFBall and have already booked for next year... James Callis was lovely, and there are photos of me and him, one of me on my own, the other with me and the lads (they got theirs done on Sunday and invited me along; what can I say, the lure of the Callis was strong!) which I need to scan in and put up... the Saturday night was great fun, all of us all dolled up, and I think choosing the haddock for the meal was the better choice as the venison seemed to be a little overdone... the quote of note was that "I have knee high boots that are more tender than this!"

Huge difference having the Monday off work... we had to be out of the B&B by ten, so were up for breakfast at half eight...which was hard work, but when I reminded myself that normally on a con Monday I'm touching down in Dublin Airport by then, it sat a little better! Still though, have spent this week recovering and not helped by the fact that I have a sore throat, and cold and slight loss of voice!

BUT! The big news? Himself has a job in a Dublin hospital, starting April 10th! *happy dances* Now, just to move him over here full time...

Europeans Free Dance )

Thanks to TheSister, I now have an MP3 of John Barrowman singing Why, God, Why? I was, quite literally, incoherent with the squee. I jumped in circles, then got quite dizzy and realised that I shouldn't be doing that.

Himself is arriving tomorrow morning, to stay until Tuesday evening. He has an interview in a hospital on Tuesday afternoon, so if anyone has any favours owing from a benevolent deity, I'd appreciate you putting a word in!

Back from England, until Thursday evening at least... wedding was lovely, even if I bored HelsinkiFiancé to death by insistently noting the differences between Irish and English weddings... the bridesmaids coming up *behind* the bride? Priest rather than congregation doing prayers of the faithful??? The amazing buffet at the afters, complete with luscious desserts, but absent of tea and coffee??? *gasp* 'Twas the last that really amazed me... no cuppa halfway through the dancing to wash down your ham sandwich and cocktail sausages??? That's just downright uncivilised!!!

Had a bit of a day at school today... People were doing work in the room over the weekend and there was a horrible smell when we came in, opened all the windows, but that should have been a clue... one kid went home sick (was sick in the classroom)... another one got a forehead to the nose at breaktime, pumped blood everywhere (they were playing rugby on the grass, not allowed, HelsinkiPrincipal had to come down hard on them, all sixth class kids are now off the grass for the week; those who were innocent of playing rugby are not impressed!) ... I really should have just gone back to bed. The only thing that would have made it worse was if I had yard duty. But no. That's tomorrow. Me, another teacher and 431 kids. *whimper*

Himself is at a table quiz tonight, cheated and sent me a picture from the picture round on the phone, wanting to know who it was. I looked, I consulted [livejournal.com profile] smiley_b, we both came up blank. So I sent that back, telling him that the only person it looked vaguely like was Bianca Gascoigne if she was airbrushed six ways to Sunday... just got a text back, "The lads all love you but are very worried about your geekness"... I was right!!! *does the dance of supreme geekitude*

Am here reading a weekend's worth of LJ flist having just dropped HelsinkiFiancé off to the airport... he is doubtless just about to take off back to the UK *checks time and nods* and we had a lovely weekend together. Will see him in ten days (not that I'm counting!) at the next con, and I'm concentrating on that and trying to keep my chin up. I have had my little cry, I am now onto fandom and snooker distraction!!!

Have many fandom thoughts with regard to American Idol and Doctor Who, but will keep them to myself for now.

War of the Worlds, the Jeff Wayne stage version - OMG so good! Himself ended up telling me the whole story in the bar beforehand, as he is the major fan, so I was able to follow it just fine... and he completely loved it. Comes highly recommended by us both!

Two things that I came online at a quarter to one in the morning to say.

1. RENT the movie rocks muchly, and should be seen by all.

2. I have the bestest fiancé ever in the whole entire world.

That is all.

Apart from this article. What the Olympics is all About )

Wow it's been a while since I posted here...

Had a lovely long weekend over with HelsinkiFiancé; was very hard to come back, even harder when I had yard duty on Monday, and issues with a child not doing work, over to HelsinkiPrincipal, caught child in lie (not having work done had by then extended to case of not having extra work done, having disregarded stern warnings by HelsinkiPrincipal and myself, and forged father's signature on a note, very badly, and denying same right up to and including when we had child's mother on phone, with father in background, saying neither of them had signed note.), had conference with mother, child taken out of class, all before 11am. Not good.

Then, skating at the Olympics. Monday was free dance, Tuesday ladies' short, Wednesday videotape of original dance and The Glare Heard Around the World, Thursday ladies' free, tonight gala... and I've still got to review the tape of the men's, which I did see at his place, and he still wants to marry me, so all is well!

And! For Valentine's Day... as well as getting me a nice card, a little stuffed toy (a LoveBug!), a box of chocolates (which were Lir Irish chocolates, my favourite, and which I had to cut up with a cheese knife because I couldn't bite them) and taking me out for dinner???

He got me the RENT DVD!!!!!

Dropped through the door on Saturday morning. There was bouncing, and squealing (not that much actually, was stunned to speechlessness) and hugging and general adoration. Not seen it yet, as long standing promise to see it first time with HelsinkiSister still stood, so we're having a night in tomorrow with RENT...expect much squeeeeing!

As promised, one picture from the weekend... have tried to take ringpic but the damn thing keeps coming out blurry... either the shiny sparkly is reacting with the flash, or my digital camera is buggered. I really hope this works -- the ring is at least visible in this one!

Will post more about SG-10 later (like when I'm actually, you know, able to form coherent thought) but there is one update I wanted to make here that those of you who were at the convention already know about. Namely, that HelsinkiBoyfriend is no longer HelsinkiBoyfriend, but rather HelsinkiFiancé.

HelsinkiFiancé FAQ )

Back in the land of LJ after an absence of two weeks... skimmed my friends list, but it was mega-long, so if I missed anything you think I should have seen, let me know!

Where to begin? Well, as I think I mentioned aways back, birthday went really nicely, apart from the weather - a month's worth of rain in one day should not be allowed! Sister got me season 2 of 21 Jump Street, so the weather was kind of a blessing - at least I didn't feel guilty about watching it! And [livejournal.com profile] wendywoo gifted me with some truly gorgeous icons which I now have to find on my system and upload... which might also involve removing some of the ones that I don't use as much any more... but rest assured, there will be GIPs aplenty!

I have a whole entry about my two weeks, but I just realised how long it is so... very detailed entry about the last two weeks in which I gush rather a lot about my boyfriend, don't tell him, and which is probably very boring to anyone who is not me, and yet I post it anyway for those of you who care! )

Skating news: Shae Lynn Bourne and Nikolai Morozov are apparently getting married this weekend. Which is the good news that accompanies that bad news that Hongbo Zhao has apparently crocked his leg and it looks like he and Xue Zhen might not be able to skate at the Olympics. Excuse me while I wail!

Casting news for NCIS, cut just in case )

Rent fans, there are nice wallpapers and LJ icons up on the Blog... the icons are moving ones that have the release date on them, very promotional, but the wallpapers are very nice...there are ones of Collins, Mark, Roger and Benny, and Collins now adorns my desktop... there are also pictures there of them performing on the Today show, and praise Jesus and FakeJesus too, Adam Pascal has cut his hair and is now hot again.

Oooooh and new Karin Slaughter book, Faithless? Got it yesterday, read it in pretty much one sitting...definite must read!
